Aim: At the end of the lesson the students will be able to:
1) make and respond to requests
2) talk about the three types of education
3) use collocations correctly
4) to read adequately (applying SQRRR)
5) write using cohesive devices (linking words)
Procedure: I) SS, in groups, try to talk about the main sources of learning.
SS try to classify them in three categories: home, street/community, school
Teacher names the three types of learning. Then deal with the activities on their books, pages: 10 and 11.
II) Vocabulary learning: collocation. Presenting the new material. What is a collocation? How is it formed? Giving models. Ask ss to cope with page 11, activity A). Blackboard correction. SS, in groups, try to do activity B) with less guidance. BB correction. Homework: SS are assigned to do Exercise C) page 12 at home.
III) Communication: reminding the ss of the way they should use to make a request taking a real example. SS read the exchanges at the bottom of page 13 and 1) understand it, then underline/select the expressions used for a request.
SS try to add more expressions. Given 2 situations, SS try to develop them using the expressions they have found or added.
